The appointment of Zack Adedeji, as the chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service has been officially endorsed by the Senate.
According to The PUNCH, a majority of senators voted in favor of his confirmation during the plenary session on Tuesday.
Prior to his confirmation, Adedeji expressed his commitment to enhancing the agency’s data mining capabilities, with the aim of making more informed and effective tax-related decisions.
He pointed to the absence of financial data on both local and foreign companies operating in the country as the root cause of revenue leakages.
He said, “We will improve our data mining capacity. We will develop the data upon which will we make decisions on taxes.”
