The Senate has directed the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, to look into the mysterious disappearance of a deputy commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Raymond Gaadi, who was supposed to take over at the Bayelsa State command but went missing upon his arrival.
Senator Emmanuel Orker-Jev moved the resolution in the upper chamber (PDP, Benue North-West).
He said, “I am moving this motion on the disappearance of Raymond Gaadi, who was posted from Enugu to Bayelsa State to resume but never assumed office.
“The deputy commandant had raised an alarm that the officer he was meant to take over from was not only resisting handover but was threatening him. Two days after the deputy commandant raised an alarm over a threat to his life, he went missing.”
Senator Jev complained that the NSCDC authority has shown little or no interest about the problem from October 29, 2022.
The Senate resolved to request that the NSCDC commandant conduct an internal investigation into the situation.
The MPs also demanded that the IGP conduct a thorough criminal probe into Gaadi’s abduction.
