Federal Road Safety Corps reported that a tragic road accident in Ogere, Ogun State, has claimed the lives of seven individuals.
The incident, which occurred around 9:33 pm on Monday, involved 18 people, including 15 male adults and three female adults.
The spokesperson for the FRSC Ogun sector command, Florence Okpe, attributed the accident to excessive speed on the part of the Mazda bus driver, who collided with a moving truck from behind.
She stated, “A total of 18 persons were involved, which comprised 15 male adults and 3 female adults. 11 people were injured, 9 male adults and 2 female adults, while 7 persons were recorded dead from the crash, five male and two female.”
Okep disclosed that the injured victims were promptly taken to Patmag Hospital Ogere for medical treatment, while the deceased were transferred to the FOS morgue in Ipara.
In response to the incident, Sector Commander Anthony Uga emphasized the importance of adhering to reasonable speed limits, especially at night and in adverse weather conditions.
He extended his condolences to the families of the crash victims and urged passengers to remain vigilant to help correct drivers’ errors.
