A multimillion dollar agreement between Spotify and a media company managed by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of Britain is coming to an end, according to a report on Thursday.
Since signing the arrangement in 2020 for an estimated $20 million, the couple has only produced one series under their Archewell Audio podcast banner.
Markle’s show, “Archetypes,” has topped podcast charts for the outlet in a number of cities, with listeners flocking to her chats with powerful women.
However, Variety reported Thursday, citing an unnamed source, that Spotify was expecting more content.
According to Variety, who cited another source, Harry and the Duchess of Sussex were looking for a new home for their material.
Prince Harry, the younger son of King Charles II of the United Kingdom, married Meghan, a former US television actress of mixed race, in a blaze of positive press that seemed to help pull the staid monarchy into the modern day.
However, relations between the pair and the family deteriorated over the years, with accusations that Markle was subjected to racism.
Harry and his wife left the royal family and moved to California, where they have continued to criticise the institution.
The 38-year-old prince’s autobiography, a Netflix docu-series, and a high-profile interview with Oprah Winfrey have all been particularly explosive.
Since leaving the royal family, the couple has tried to make money through media businesses.
