The Nigeria Labour Congress is reportedly in an emergency National Executive Council meeting over the suspension of their nation wide protest that began on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.
A reliable source at the ongoing meeting in Abuja told journalists on Thursday morning.
The source revealed that leaders of the Union are already discussing the possibility of suspending the strike owing to the meeting it had with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday.
“It will be premature to say we have suspended the strike action. We are meeting to consider that option”, he told newsmen.
The source added that meeting details will be made known in hours.
The Punch Metro had reported that NLC embarked staged a nationwide protest demanding the reversal of fuel subsidy removal and workers’ pay increment.
However, the leadership of organized labour met with Tinubu at the Villa to halt further strike action.
Tinubu, in a statement on Wednesday night by his Spokesperson Dele Alake promised to meet workers’ demands.
