The Senate has set up a committee to dialogue with protesting members of the Nigerian Labour Congress.
PUNCH METRO reported that the protesting union members broke down the National Assembly Complex first gate, before occupying the premises.
According to Channels, following an urgent closed-door meeting with the lawmakers, Senate President Godswill Akpabio said that the red chamber has formed a three-person committee to speak with the protesters at the National Assembly.
The chief whip,for the senate from Borno South, Ali Ndume, presided over the committee.
The Senate also decided that it would meet with the NLC and TUC leadership as soon as possible to try to settle the current deadlock amicably.
Ndume, together with Senators Ireti Kingibe and Tony Nwonye, later met with the demonstrators at the National Assembly.
The Senators were seen interacting with President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, and Festus Osifo, President of the Trade Union Congress.
