Super Eagles of Nigeria experienced the most significant drop in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday, following disappointing performances during the recent international break.
The Super Eagles, three-time African champions, fell from 36th to 44th in the November rankings, marking an eight-place decline. Their points total also dipped from 1503 to 1482.23.
On the continental front, Nigeria now ranks fifth in Africa, trailing behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Algeria.
The team’s poor showing in the last phase of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers contributed to this slump, with a 0-2 home loss to Rwanda in Uyo and a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic.
Globally, Argentina retained its position at the top, followed by France in second place and Spain in third. England and Brazil occupy the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.
Meanwhile, Niger made the biggest climb, jumping nine spots to 122nd with a gain of 31.23 points.
These rankings reflect the packed international schedule, including AFCON 2025 qualifiers, World Cup 2026 preliminaries, and Nations League matches.
