Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman and Gabonese forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have been named in the 2023-24 UEFA Europa League Team of the Season,
UEFA revealed this on its X handle @EuropaLeague.
Ademola Lookman, aged 26, played a pivotal role in securing Atalanta’s maiden European trophy by scoring a hat-trick in their 3-0 victory against Bayer Leverkusen in the final held in Dublin, Ireland.
This triumph brought an end to Bayer Leverkusen’s undefeated streak this season.
Lookman who finished the competition with five goals was joined in the attack by Gabon’s Aubameyang and Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz.
Aubameyang emerged as the tournament’s top scorer with 10 goals, leading Olympique Marseille to the semi-finals before being eliminated by Lookman’s Atalanta.
The former Arsenal star was also named Player of the Tournament.
The midfield of the Team of the Season features Granit Xhaka and Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, alongside Matteo Ruggeri and Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta.
The defense includes Atalanta’s Berat Djimsiti, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, and Roma’s Gianluca Mancini.
Roma’s Mile Svilar was selected as the goalkeeper, completing the distinguished XI.
