Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo, has said his side played a better game against the Eagles of Mali but they were unlucky to have lost the the game.
Omeruo disclosed this while speaking with NFFTV after the tie.
The Super Eagles fell to a 2-0 defeat against their Mali at the Grand Stade de Marrakech, Morocco on Tuesday night.
Mali sealed the win through goals in each half from El Bilal Toure and Kamorou Dounmbia.
It was the Eagles first win over Nigeria in 49 years.
Omeruo, forme Chelsea defender expressed disappointment following the Super Eagles defeat to Mali.
“I think we played a better second half, it wasn’t a bad game, we just didn’t take our chances and they scored two goals. Overall, I think we played a good game.
“I think it was a good outing for us, fantastic spirit. The players that were here gave their best. We just couldn’t score in the game,” Omeruo said
The Super Eagles will now shift their attention to June 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
