A tragic gas tanker explosion in Ita-Oshin, Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State has resulted in the loss of at least four lives and the destruction of six vehicles.
The explosion, believed to have been triggered by an accident involving the gas tanker, occurred as the vehicle was maneuvering along the road rails, causing a chain reaction of catastrophic events.
Emergency response teams, including personnel from the Federal Road Safety Corps, swiftly responded to the scene to evacuate the victims’ remains and contain the raging inferno.
Several vehicles, including taxis, a private car, and a truck, were engulfed in flames, with the impact extending to nearby shops and houses.
While security and safety officials are yet to issue a comprehensive statement on the incident, eyewitnesses who craved anonymity told newsmen that some victims had already been rushed to the hospital by earlier response teams.
