The youth wing of the Taraba State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria has announced a three-day period of prayer and fasting, beginning on Monday, in response to the severe drought affecting the state.
According to The PUNCH, in a statement released on Sunday, the state chairman of the youth CAN, Ephesian Jesse, emphasized the urgency of the situation.
This call to spiritual action comes as the region continues to experience a troubling lack of rainfall, which has started to take a toll on agricultural activities.
The prolonged dry spell has led to the wilting of crops, raising concerns among farmers and the broader community about potential food shortages.
He urged Christian youths across Taraba State to join the prayer and fasting initiative, which he described as a critical step toward seeking divine intervention.
The statement underscored the need for the people to seek forgiveness for any wrongdoings that might have contributed to the current crisis.
“Let us come out and pray for the release of rainfall. It is no longer news that our crops are already drying up due to lack of rainfall. Let’s cry unto God for divine intervention,” the statement urged.
In addition to praying for rainfall, the youth CAN leadership called on participants to remember the challenges faced by various churches within the state, asking for divine support in overcoming these difficulties.
“Let us pray for churches that are currently having challenges, let us pray for divine intervention knowing fully that nothing is impossible with God,” Jesse added.
Also, the group encouraged prayers for the state’s leadership, specifically Governor Agbu Kefas and his family, asking for God’s guidance, protection, and good health as they continue to serve the people of Taraba State.
“Let us also pray for Governor Agbu Kefas and his family, that the Lord will guide over their steps, protect them and grant them good health as they discharge their duties to the glory of the Lord,” the statement concluded.
This spiritual exercise is seen as a unifying call for all Christian youths in Taraba to come together in faith, seeking divine intervention to end the drought and restore prosperity to the state.
