The Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has approved free medical tourism for traditional rulers in the state.
This was announced on Friday through the office of the Bureau for Local Government, Traditional, and Chieftaincy in Jalingo, the state capital, noting that the monarch will observe medical tourism in the hospital of their choice across the globe.
While speaking to newsmen about the development, the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau for Local Government, Traditional, and Chieftaincy Affairs, Babangida Hassan, disclosed that the governor’s gesture is extended to all traditional rulers in the state.
“I am happy to inform all traditional rulers in the state of the gracious approval of His Excellency the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, for all the chiefs in the state to embark on medical check-ups at various hospitals of their choice.”
The categories of the affected traditional rulers, as stated by the Permanent Secretary, are “First class, second class, and third class chiefs.”
“This is the first of its kind since the creation of the state in 1991. The leadership of the Bureau urges the traditional rulers to take advantage of this opportunity to conduct a thorough diagnosis of their bodies for their well-being in order to justify the resources given and reciprocate the good gesture of the governor,” he added.
Hassan added that traditional rulers must recognise their roles by joining hands with the government in the areas of the maintenance of peace, security, and harmonious coexistence.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Digital, Emmanuel Bello, who spoke on the development, stressed that the governor has placed a high premium on the welfare of the royal fathers to enable them to concentrate on the mitigation of conflicts in their domains.
