Intense rainfall in Thailand’s southern regions has led to widespread flooding, affecting tens of thousands of individuals.
According to officials on Monday, the deluge has prompted closures of numerous roads and railway lines in the area.
In the provinces of Yala and Narathiwat, around a dozen schools have shut down due to the flooding. Distressing footage from the region displays homes and shops submerged in murky brown waters, forcing residents to seek refuge on higher floors for safety.
The relentless downpours have also caused maritime issues, resulting in the sinking of at least seven boats in the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea since last Friday.
The state railway company of the kingdom reported track subsidence, causing trains heading south toward the Malaysian border to halt operations at Yala, situated 100 km away.
Authorities have issued warnings to residents in these provinces, advising them to prepare for potential evacuation in the event of worsening flood conditions.
