The Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed the death of three individuals following a auto crash in Gwaram Local Government Area of the state.
The accident, which also left 14 other passengers with varying degrees of injuries, occurred on an old road in the area.
Spokesperson for State the Police Command, Lawan Shiisu, shared details of the incident, revealing that it involved a passenger bus and an empty trailer.
Shiisu explained that the the bus, bearing the registration number KTG 196 XC, was transporting 17 passengers when the collision occurred.
Providing further insights, Shiisu said, “On reaching Kwanar Mangwarori, along old Gwaram road, the driver hit an empty Dangote trailer with registration number BNK 447 XA, driven by one Musbahu Yakubu, now at large.”
He disclosed that the trailer driver was traveling from old Gwaram towards Kano State at the time of the incident.
Among the passengers, three lives were lost, while the remaining 14 sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe.
The victims were promptly evacuated by police operatives to Gwaram Cottage Hospital for urgent medical attention. Shiisu identified the deceased as Idris Nuhu, Khadija Kabiru, and Shamsuddeen Ibrahim.
The police spokesman said the command is still on the lookout for the trailer driver, Musbahu Yakubu, who fled the scene.
