The remains of three victims from a tragic building collapse in Kano State were laid to rest on Monday, with sorrowful scenes of weeping and grief from family members, friends, and acquaintances.
The victims included two children of a tenant residing in the collapsed structure and a nephew who had been living with them.
Despite relentless efforts by rescue teams, the first daughter of the family, identified as Dmilila, remained missing as of the time of this report, four days after the disaster.
The parents of the deceased children, who miraculously survived the collapse, are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
The mass burial, presided over by Pastor Michael Eyien, took place at the Hamadiyya Cemetery, drawing an enormous crowd of mourners who came to bid farewell to the victims.
Many in attendance struggled to hold back their tears as they gathered to pay their final respects to the lost lives.
The National Emergency Management Agency through its Kano Territorial Office, had earlier confirmed the tragic event.
On Thursday, NEMA Coordinator Dr. Nuraddeen Abdullahi stated, “The agency received a distress call today at about 2:00 a.m. from a good samaritan that a two-story building collapsed at Noman’s Land Quarters, Kano predominantly occupied by the non-indigenous community.”
NEMA’s findings revealed that two children were confirmed dead, while two others were injured following the collapse of the two-storey building in the Noman’s Land area of Fagge Local Government.
This unfortunate incident has left the community in shock, as the search for Dmilila continues while her parents recover from their injuries.
