President Bola Tinubu left Abuja on Wednesday for a three-day official visit to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, following an invitation from President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
The President’s flight took off around 1:00 PM, marking the beginning of a significant diplomatic mission.
Present at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to bid the President farewell were key officials, including the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.
In a statement released earlier by the Presidential Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, it was confirmed that President Tinubu would engage in high-level discussions with his Equatorial Guinean counterpart upon his arrival.
The two leaders are set to meet at the Presidential Villa in Malabo, focusing on strengthening cooperation in critical areas such as oil, gas, and security.
Ngelale stated, “President Bola Tinubu will on Wednesday, August 14, depart Abuja for Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, on a three-day official visit at the invitation of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
President Tinubu will meet with the Equatorial Guinean President at the Presidential Villa upon arrival, where meetings will be held between the two leaders, and agreements, particularly on oil and gas and security, will be signed.”
Joining President Tinubu on this diplomatic trip are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and other members of his cabinet.
They will participate in signing agreements aimed at enhancing bilateral relations between Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea, particularly in the energy and security sectors.
