The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, as well as the incumbent governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has congratulated the former governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, as he marks his 58th birthday today, Thursday, February 9.
Tinubu commended him for all he had done for the country, including his leading role in the restoration and entrenchment of democracy and good governance in the land.
Tinubu said this in a statement in Abuja by his Media Office signed by Tunde Rahman, saying “Today, I join family, friends and numerous associates of the former governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, in congratulating him on attaining 58.
“I must commend Dr. Fayemi for his useful contributions to this country and all he has been to us and our progressive front- author, thinker, pro-democracy activist, strategist, astute politician and of course two-term governor of Ekiti State with excellent record of accomplishments.
“Together, we fought for the return of democracy to the country and for its sustenance and institutionalization.
As Adviser, Foreign Affairs in our Presidential Campaign Council, JKF remains invaluable in our struggle to renew the hope of our people in a better, stronger, prosperous and progressive Nigeria.
“Together, we must work to ensure the complete emancipation of our people from poverty and underdevelopment.
So, today, I commend the former governor for being a friend, brother and consistent ally on our progressive front. And as he turns 58, I wish him many more years in good health and increased wisdom so he can continue to render useful services to the country.”
Oyebanji congratulated Fayemi, the President of Forum of Regions of Africa, describing him as a special gift to the state and humanity.
In a congratulatory message signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, Oyebanji described Fayemi as a highly cerebral and exemplary leader who possesses a rare passion for the development of Ekiti State and the country in general.
Dr Fayemi, according to Oyebanji, “re-defined governance in Ekiti State and brought the state to national and global prominence with many laudable initiatives and partnerships with relevant institutions as well as local and international development agencies”.
While describing the former Governor as a thoroughbred politician and public servant, Oyebanji said Fayemi is a special gift to Ekiti, adding that the former Governor has continue to champion the interest of the state even after leaving office.
“Dr Kayode Fayemi has consistently displayed the virtues of honour, integrity and honesty for which Ekiti people are known. These sterling qualities of his, as well as his brilliance and commitment to the Ekiti and Nigerian projects have made him stand out among his peers. We are always very proud of him for being a worthy ambassador of the State and we pray he continues to soar higher and higher.
“I, on behalf of my wife, the Government and people of Ekiti State congratulate this worthy and illustrious son of Ekiti State on his 58th birthday and pray the Almighty God to give him many more years so that he can continue his selfless service to humanity.”
