President of National Association of Traditional Medicine Practitioners, Dr. Peter Doka, has disclosed that the association will work with the ministry of health, to ensure rational manufacture of traditional medicine products in order to enhance quality, safety and efficacy.
According to Guardian, the new NANTMP president made this known in his acceptance speech after his election in Abuja, Sunday.
He promised to outline the traditional medicine practitioners for the association to work closely with the Ministry of Health, while seeking the Federal Government’s cooperation, as well as that of his members, to achieve this feat.
He also promised to carry his members along in the discharge of his responsibility.
The Oath Commissioner, Sharafa Yusuf, enjoined all the officers to leave by the oath they had taken and do justice to the people under their watch.
The election, which was held at the Raw Materials and Development Council on August 17, 2023, had observers from the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and the Presidency.
In his vote of thanks, the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Shehu Adamu, appreciated the delegates for their maturity which ensured a peaceful conduct of the election, promising them of a cordial working relationship with the new executive council.
Other members of the new exco include David Osometha, Secretary General, Sunday Uwadiaye, Deputy President, Zahradeen Haruna, Vice President, North West), Dr. Nelson Idiakpona, Vice President, South South), Paul Nwanne, Treasurer, and Dr. Gowin Lemchi, Publicity Secretary.
Traditional medicine is the knowledge, skills and practices based on the theories, beliefs and experiences indigenous to different cultures, used in the maintenance of health and in the prevention, diagnosis, improvement or treatment of physical and mental illness.
