Traditionalists led by the Isoros, otherwise known as chief priests, on Saturday began necessary spiritual rites as the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and her third wife, Queen Tobilola welcomed a set of twins.
Oba Ogunwusi had taken to his Instagram page Saturday to announce the arrival of the twins, a male and a female.
Meanwhile, in a statement on Saturday, the spokesperson to the monarch, Comrade Moses Olafare, disclosed that the Isoros in conformity with the traditional customs and culture of the Ife have begun necessary spiritual rites for the new twins.
The statement read, “A great news broke out at the Ile Oodua Palace of the Ooni of Ife early hours of this morning sequel to a safe delivery of a twin set of babies; Prince and princess with mother; Her Majesty, Olori Tobiloba Ogunwusi and babies in good healthy conditions.
“While the palace has since become a beehive of well wishing activities and visits from far and near in felicitations with the Ife Royal Family, other necessary spiritual rites as a buildup to the formal arrival of the new royal babies to the palace expected to happen very soon have begun as being handled by the Ife Chief Priests otherwise known as The Isoros in conformity with the traditional customs and culture of the Ife Kingdom which is the ancestral home of the Yoruba and several other races around the world.
“Details of events shall be made public later.”
In October 2022, barely a month into her marriage to the Ooni, Olori Tobi, who the monarch married on October 9, had revealed how she prayed their union into existence.
The ex-beauty queen who hails from Okitipupa, Ondo State, was one of the youngest of the Ooni’s six new brides.
Ooni confirmed the news of the newborn babies on his official X account, saying, “To God be the glory great things He has done.
“Hearty congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa and Olori Tobiloba, who today birthed a Prince and Princess to the Royal throne of Oduduwa.
“Mother and children are doing well to the glory of God Almighty.”
Olori Tobi is a fashion entrepreneur and a model.
She is a graduate of Marine Science from the University of Lagos. A former beauty queen, in 2012, she was crowned the winner of the World Miss University Africa beauty pageant.
She is the owner of QTP Luxury Fashion, a fashion outfit. She is also a skilful 3D artist.
