Manuel Ugarte has finally settled for Paris Saint-Germain despite the Blue’s attempt to lure the striker to its club.
The 22-year-old midfielder was close to joining Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues from Sporting but will head for the Parc des Princes instead, according to Livescores.com.
At one stage this summer it appeared that Chelsea were very close to landing Mauricio Pochettino’s first signing. The Blues were happy to activate a transfer clause and even appeared to have agreed to personal terms.
In one dramatic evening, Chelsea appeared to move from being confident of completing a deal for Manuel Ugarte to then pulling out of the deal completely as PSG took the driver’s seat.
The football star expressed excitement about the move he has made to join a bigger team.
He said, “I’m really happy to take this big step in my career at such a great club,” after signing a five-year deal.
He promised to give his best to his new team as he takes over the No.4 jersey.
“I’m going to give my all for Paris Saint-Germain,” he promised.
PSG unveiled a new boss Luis Enrique earlier this week and has since confirmed the captures of Ugarte, Marco Asensio, and Milan Skriniar.
The French capital will be faced with intense pressure as Lionel Messi heads for Inter Miami, Sergio Ramos is out of contract and Kylian Mbappe’s future is up in the air.
Ugarte has racked up 163 senior appearances and should be able to make an immediate impact in Luis Enrique’s midfield.
