The Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has confirmed Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress as the legitimate winner of the September 21 governorship election.
In a unanimous decision on Wednesday, the three-member panel, led by Justice Wilfred Kpochi, dismissed the petition brought forward by the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Asuerime Ighodalo.
The tribunal ruled that the petitioners failed to substantiate their claims of over-voting, affirming that Okpebholo had secured the highest number of valid votes.
Additionally, the panel criticized the manner in which the evidence was presented, stating that it lacked the necessary weight to support the allegations.
