A troop of Operation Hadarin Daji, an element of the Nigerian military, foiled an attack of the unrepentant bandit operating in the Northwest zone, on Gusau, Zamfara State capital, in laat night, on Saturday.
Reports revealed that the incident occurred, following privy information om from the troops, about the attack on the community, by the bandit.
However, the troops engaged them in a gun battle, which lasted for hours, after acting on intelligent information, which prepared them ahead of the attack, call at the Damba district of Gusau in the wee hours of Saturday.
It was learnt that the bandits, who were not prepared for the hits of the gunfire from the troops, could not withstand the pressure, which forced them back to their hidden places.
A resident of the community, who confirmed the incident Damba, Abubakar Umaru, revealed that there were blood stains around the area, which was a printer of the fact that the bandits sustained some degrees of injuries, as a result of the gun wounds sustained from the incident.
Usman, who expressed satisfaction with the military presence around the area, said it has thwarted many attacks on the area, noting that the troops trailed the fleeing bandit, to neutralize them.
He said, “Though we were not surprised when we learnt of bandits planning to attack Damba because they have been pencilled by the unrepentant bandits.”
“That axis has been experiencing a series of terrorist attacks in recent times. Presently, many residents of the area are unable to attend the Islamic morning prayer due to fear of being attacked by the ravaging bandits.”
