A Twitter user, identified as Chuks Akunna, on Monday accused a yet-to-be-identified doctor of wrongfully prescribing drugs to a friend.
According to him, the prescribed drugs would later result to a skin blistering on his friend, while also describing the doctor as a killer doctor.
“An ill senior friend’s doc prescribed these drugs. After 2 days, his skin began blistering. A visiting lab scientist noticed the drug combination. “Ah! You don’t combine Colchicine with Ciprotab, an antibiotics!” Meanwhile, the doc is a consultant! God save us from killer docs!” He tweeted.
Reacting to the incident, some Nigerians used the opportunity to encourage others to always seek proper medical channels for their health challenges.
@Omoyemwem tweeted,”One reason I like to Google drugs before taking them even if the doctor is said to be the best.
After my experiences with some of them I won’t dare put my life in their hands to toil with.
Thank God the visiting lab scientist came on time.”
@emmyDDKC tweeted,”Some over the counter workers at pharmacy stores, knows more about combination of tablets more than some doctors unfortunately, because they do researches all the time.”
@nalebiosu tweeted,”When given prescription by a doc, it’s best to go to a pharmacist store rather than the “chemist shop”.
You’re lucky that the lab guy is God sent. That blister would’ve appeared all over his body.
Killer doc is an early conclusion mind you.
Happy new year.”
@Adaeze tweeted,”There is something called “ Corresponding responsibility “ of the pharmacist. As much as a doctor is in charge of prescribing, the pharmacist also has a role to play by checking for drug-drug interactions and other vital stuffs( i.e allergies) before”
