Social Media was set buzzing on Monday evening after President Bola Tinubu fired service chiefs in the country.
The sacked service chiefs are General Lucky Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff; Chief of Army Staff, Farouk Yahaya; Chief of Naval Staff, Awwal Gambo; Chief of Air Staff, Isiaka Amao; and the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali.
Also, National Security Adviser, was replaced by Babagana Monguno.
A tweep identified as @Chidi Godson, while reacting to the development tweeted,”APC is sacking APC appointments.
This is doom loading.The kind of altercations that will erupt sooner than later among them would be unheard of”.
While @Olatunji, tweeted, “The role of a Service Chief has been reduced to a purely political position, where they are often selected to carry out unethical tasks on behalf of corrupt politicians.
“Appointments are made based on nepotism, tribalism, and religious affiliations, rather than on the basis of competence. Unfortunately, their focus is not on serving the best interests of the people or the nation, but rather on remaining loyal to the politicians who appointed them.”
Another tweep, identified as @EmeriUde, hilariously tweeted, “Nawa oh, everything is now by sacks, remove or sign.”
Also, a tweep identified as @awolam, tweeted, “No single appointment from the South East. Every well meaning Nigeria can now see the obvious conspiracy between the North and South West against the SE in full glare. Waiting to see what politicians from the SE & SS next line of action.”
This was reiterated by popular social media influencer, Daniel Regha who tweeted ,”Tinubu only appointed Yorubas & northerners after sacking Service Chiefs, advisers, & Comptroller General of Customs.
“No-one from the South-east was appointed. As usual it’s tribe over everything. Bigots are celebrating but this is not how to run a govt, the SE is being snubbed.”
