Two people lost their lives and three others sustained injuries in a road accident on the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode road.
The incident, which happened around 11:28 am on Sunday, involved an Ash Howo Truck without a registration number and a Blue Toyota Camry with the registration number APP478FS.
Spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun State, Florence Okpe, confirmed the details of the crash to journalists in Abeokuta.
She reported that the rescue operation was conducted by the FRSC Zebra 50 team from the Ijebu Ode Unit Command.
Okpe attributed the cause of the accident to excessive speeding and loss of control, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles. “The crash involved 2(two) vehicles with the following details, Ash Howo Truck with no registration number and Blue Toyota Camry Car with registration number APP478FS,” she stated.
She elaborated that five individuals were involved in the crash: one male adult and four female adults. Among them, one male and one female were killed, while three females were injured. The injured victims were transported to the General Hospital in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, and the deceased were taken to the morgue.
The Sector Commander, CC Anthony Uga, expressed his condolences to the victims’ families and urged drivers to avoid speeding and to stay fully focused while driving.
