Two persons have been killed in an ongoing renewed battle in the Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of the state.
According to Daily Post,no fewer than five villages were burnt down by the rampaging youths.
The incident has been confirmed by Taraba State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Usman.
According to him, the ongoing upheaval in the council is a “guerilla welfare.”
The Karinjo community is being held responsible for the attacks, according to the command, which also noted that anti-riot police officers, troops, and other security personnel had been stationed nearby.
He added that the Karinjo hired mercenaries from the neighbouring Lau local government, which resulted in the devastation of five Wurkun villages.
Normalcy would soon return to the two communities and the council as a whole, according to the PPRO, who highlighted that the command is in control of the situation.
The Wurkun and Karinjo ethnic groups of the council have been at loggerheads over where the headquarters of the traditional stool of the area should be situated.
