Former Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba, has lamented the poor state of the club following its champions league humiliation by Real Madrid.
PUNCH METRO on Wednesday reported that the North London side lost on a 4:0 goals aggregate to the Spanish team.
Reacting to the loss, the Ivorian who was a part of the Chelsea team that won the Champion’s league under former owner, Abramovich, stated that the team has lost it true identity.
“I knew this club with a certain class during the Abramovich era, but today I find it lacking. It is very hard for me to see how they got ridbof certain people.
“They should go back to the principles and values they had. I don’t recognize my club anymore”, he said.
New Club owner, Todd Boehly has spent over £500 million to reinforce the team with the signing of Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk, Joao Felix, among several other players.
The club has also seen to a change of coach following the sack of Thomas Tuchel who guided the team to win the Premier League. Currently they are been managed by Frank Lampard who was appointed temporally to manage the team following the sack of Graham Potter who took over from Tuchel.
