Vinicius Junior showcased his talent with a stunning performance, scoring twice for Real Madrid in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League semifinal on Tuesday night.
Despite Bayern’s dominance, Vinícius opened the scoring against the run of play in the 24th minute and later equalized with a calmly taken penalty in the 83rd minute.
Harry Kane had earlier scored for Bayern, but Vinícius’ heroics ensured Madrid left Germany with a valuable result.
The match wasn’t without controversy, as Kim Min-jae’s tackle on Rodrygo led to Vinicius’ second goal, amidst a chorus of boos and whistles from the home fans.
Kane also scored for Bayern from the penalty spot, marking his 43rd goal in 43 games for the club this season.
The second leg will take place at the Santiago Bernabeu on May 8, with the winners facing either Borussia Dortmund or Paris Saint-Germain in the final in London on June 1.
Despite Bayern’s strong performance, Madrid’s ability to absorb pressure and strike on the counter-attack proved crucial once again.
The visitors’ opener came after Toni Kroos delivered a defense-splitting pass to Vinicius, who made no mistake with his finish. Bayern, spurred on by a passionate home crowd, will still believe they can overturn the result in the return leg, especially given their dominant display throughout the match.
