United States of American actor, Johnny Wactor, was shot dead in Los Angeles when he encountered thieves attempting to steal a part from his car.
The 37-year-old, known for his role in the US soap opera General Hospital, was fatally shot after interrupting the thieves who were trying to remove the catalytic converter from his parked vehicle.
His agent David Shaul, deeply saddened by the loss, described Wactor as an “outstanding human being,” noting his generous nature: “He would literally give you the shirt off his back. After over a decade together, he will leave a hole in our hearts forever.”
Wactor’s mother Scarlett recounted the heartbreaking incident, explaining that her son, returning to his car after work, discovered a man tampering with it.
Believing it was being towed and unaware of the danger, he approached the man to ask what was happening, and was tragically shot.
The suspect fled the scene with two accomplices, leaving behind a devastated family and community.
The theft of catalytic converters, which contain valuable precious metals, is a growing concern.
The incident occurred at the corner of West Pico Boulevard and South Hope Street in downtown LA, with no arrests made at this time.
Producers at General Hospital, where Wactor made a significant impact during his two-year stint, paid tribute to the South Carolina-born actor, describing him as “truly one of a kind and a pleasure to work with each and every day.”
