Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in Florida has reported the death of a 23-year-old woman during a dispute over Christmas gifts.
According to The BBc, the altercation turned deadly when the woman was shot in the chest by her teenage brother while carrying her 10-month-old son in a carrier, authorities stated.
The situation further escalated as the older brother, armed with his own firearm, also fired at the infant.
The shooting, reportedly triggered by an argument over the allocation of gifts, unfolded tragically, leading to the loss of life.
According to Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, the 15-year-old sibling fled the scene, disposing of his weapon, while the injured 14-year-old brother remains in stable condition and is set to be taken into custody post-hospital release.
Legal officials will evaluate the case to determine whether the younger brother will face adult charges in connection to his sister’s killing.
