The Indigenous People of Biafra has allege that Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and the former governor of the State, Emeka Ihedioha in liaison with the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami are sabotaging the release of its embattled leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
According to The Independent, the group in a statement issued by the media and publicity secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful stated thatUzodinma was made governor of Imo State through the Supreme Court’s legal manoeuvring to heighten the insecurity in the South East and to blackmail IPOB.
According to the group, this is evidenced by the fact that no other state in the South has the same level of insecurity and crime as the South East.
The group also stated that Ihedioha and his party insulted Ndigbo in Enugu State and played roles in frustrating the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
It further accused Uzodinma of fattening up on Kanu, as he frequently “travels overseas every week to hide in foreign banks the money he earns from state insecurity.”
In addition, IPOB stated that on Monday, Governor Uzodinma and the APC held a security meeting in Owerri against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the contract he signed to not release him.
“The intelligence reports available to our authorities said that Hope Uzodinma advised the Federal Government not to release Mazi Nnamdi KANU so that he can continue making money from the insecurity he has created in Imo State.
“We want to assure the public that once our leader is released he will help to stop the criminality going on in all the troubled zones in Biafra especially in Imo State”.
IPOB guaranteed that if its leader, Mazi Nnamdi KANU, regains his release, “many sponsored criminal activities in the East will cease, as he is the one whom all of our people respect.”
