Social media activist, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has alleged that over ₦180 million was stolen from his NGO’s account in a cyber-attack that left him distressed.
Otse made this revelation in a heartfelt Instagram video on Friday, where he explained how the funds were diverted into an unidentified account.
“I’ve not been myself these past few days,” Otse confessed. “Somebody hacked into the NGO website, and N180 million is missing. Thankfully, we’ve tracked the person, and one suspect has been arrested.
“The account is now on PND (Post No Debit). There’s N20 million left, while N160 million was diverted. We’re heading to Jos to recover the money.”
Otse also announced that the NGO’s app had been temporarily shut down for critical maintenance to prevent further breaches, assuring supporters that the organization was taking all necessary steps to secure its operations.
He promised to provide updates on the recovery efforts as events unfolded.
The Martins Vincent Osei Initiative, founded by Otse in October, quickly gained attention when it received over ₦35 million in donations within hours of its launch.
Shortly afterward, renowned music producer Michael Collins Ajereh, famously known as Don Jazzy, bolstered the initiative with a staggering ₦100 million contribution.
Despite the setback, Otse remains determined to recover the stolen funds and continue the work of his NGO, which has garnered widespread support for its impact-driven mission.
