A 40-ft container has fallen off a truck on Monday morning around the Dopemu area of Lagos State, occupying most part of the road.
This is coming barely 24 hours after a 20-ft container crushed eight passenger in a minibus at the Ojuelegba area of the Ikorodu Expressway in the state on Sunday.
Punch Metro reported that two children of opposite sex were killed in the accident while one adult female was pulled out of the crushed car alive.
However, as seen in a video making rounds on social media, the truck-laden container struggled for balance before falling in the middle of the road.
According to a tweep who uploaded the video, @Eniboy, the govt is to be blamed for the reoccurring truck/container accidents because it failed to enforce its laws barring movement of trucks in daytime.
“Just this morning look at this container leaning along Sawmill Dopemu, looking for who to kill just after yesterday’s tragedy where nine people including children were crushed at Ojuelegba. It’s clearly caused by govt failure to enforce its law that bars trucks from 6am to 9pm,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency confirmed the development, adding that its operatives are at the scene to carry out recovery efforts.
“A 40ft container laden truck fell at Sawmill inward Dopemu under bridge,it’s occupying 90 percent of road .
“Our men are on ground doing the needful as effort is on for recovery,” LASTMA said in a tweet.
