Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, celebrated his 26th birthday on Sunday in grand style, reportedly treating himself to a green Lamborghini Urus.
Adding a unique touch to the occasion, former Super Eagles star, Obafemi Martins, blessed the vehicle in a video that surfaced online.
The video showed Martins offering a prayer for Osimhen in front of the luxurious SUV.
The former Inter Milan striker then took a sip from a glass and passed it to Osimhen, who also drank the remaining content.
This act aligns with a popular Nigerian tradition of sipping over newly acquired possessions as a gesture of celebration.
The Lamborghini Urus, recognized as the world’s first super sport utility vehicle, comes with a hefty price tag, ranging between $237,848 and $269,885 (approximately N371.9m to N422m at Sunday’s exchange rate).
Osimhen’s milestone birthday was widely acknowledged across the football world.
Leading the tributes, the Super Eagles’ official X handle honoured the striker, calling him the joint second all-time highest goal scorer for the national team.
“Happy birthday to immediate past Africa Player Of The Year, Victor James Osimhen. We wish you all the best today and always, Vic,” the Super Eagles’ post read.
CAF, the continental football governing body, also celebrated the 2023 CAF Player of the Year with a warm birthday message.
“Wishing the happiest of birthdays to Victor Osimhen. Many happy returns,” their post read.
Osimhen, who played for French club Lille between 2019 and 2020, scoring 13 goals in 27 games, was also celebrated by Ligue 1 on their official X handle.
“Happy birthday to the King Victor Osimhen,” the post read.
Additionally, his parent club Napoli and current team Galatasaray joined in the celebrations.
Napoli shared a custom design for the occasion, while Galatasaray posted a heartfelt tribute.
“Today is our football player Victor Osimhen’s birthday! Happy birthday,” Galatasaray wrote.
Currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, the Nigerian striker has been in exceptional form in Turkey, with 12 goals and four assists in just 15 matches across all competitions this season.
