A performer at Universal Studios Hollywood was taken to the hospital following a performance of the popular “WaterWorld” live show on Tuesday.
In a statement provided to AFP, the spokeswoman said that it waster after a stunt during a Monday afternoon show that the actor was taken to a hospital in Los Angeles.
It said, “Details surrounding the event are being evaluated.”
According to the entertainment news website TMZ, a male actor dove into a water tank from a 30-foot platform but did not immediately surface.
He was hauled out by terrified coworkers, who also administered CPR, before rushing him to the hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment, according to the website.
“The room was crowded. It took place in front of everyone, witness Daisy Anguiano told an ABC affiliate in her area.
She described him as being “dragged from the sea” while appearing to be comatose.
“WaterWorld” is a live show with special effects based on the 1995 post-apocalyptic action film starring Kevin Costner.
Despite being regarded as an expensive flop, “WaterWorld: A Live Sea War Spectacular” premiered in the Los Angeles amusement park the same year and has remained an enduringly popular attraction ever since.
The show, which lasts around 15 minutes and is repeated many times daily, including interaction between performers and spectators, nerve-wracking feats on jet skis and high-wires, and explosions sparked by movie-set technology.
According to the theme park’s website, WaterWorld uses 170,000 pyrotechnic effects annually, including enormous fireballs that soar 50 feet (15 meters) into the air.
