Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George, has given an optimistic update on the fitness of Samuel Chukwueze and Chidozie Awaziem ahead of their upcoming match against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
Chukwueze was sidelined for AC Milan’s last three matches due to an injury, initially ruling him out of contention for the clash with Bafana Bafana and the subsequent game against Benin Republic’s Squirrels.
However, Finidi has revealed that both Chukwueze and Awaziem are now in contention to feature against South Africa on Friday despite their recent fitness concerns.
“Chukwueze had a knock, Awaziem had a stomach problem, but all players are fit and ready to go,” Finidi confirmed.
“We have trained well, the players understand the task. I trust my players and their quality. It’s a must-win game.
“I don’t have anything to prove. I am relaxed, it is football. I want to win, I understand the tasks. I am not scared, I played to the highest and we are going for a win tomorrow.”
