Super Eagles of Nigeria will play host to the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Friday, June 7.
The Nigeria Football Federation equally announced that the encounter will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
It will be the first meeting after the Nigeria’s side booted out the Bafana Bafana in the semi-final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nation held in Cote D’ivoire through dramatic penalty shootout.
The Super Eagles won the keenly contested encounter 4-2 after it ended 1-1 in regulation and extra -time.
The West Africans are yet to record a win in the qualifiers after two draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
South Africa are second in the group with three points from two games.
Rwanda are the surprise leaders with four points from the same number of matches.
Despite having a point advantage over the Super Eagles in their World Cup qualifying group, the Bafana will face an uphill task as the top striker Victor Boniface returned from the injury that kept him out of the AFCON, by coming off the bench to score in Bayer Leverkusen’s Europa League quarter-final duel with West Ham of England on Thursday night.
