A black mom identified as Ajike Owens has been shot dead by her neighbor after a feud over children playing in the neighborhood in Florida.
According to Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods, the death of Ajike Owens was discovered after authorities responded to a trespassing report on Monday.
“When they arrived, they discovered a victim with a gunshot wound and provided immediate aid until paramedics could get there, but sadly, Miss Owens passed,” he said.
While stating that the matter is still being investigated, Woods revealed that Owens and her alleged shooter who was not named at the press conference were engaged in a “neighbourhood feud.”
Authorities had earlier been described by the alleged shooter as “complaining about their children.”
The sheriff claims that there had been “six to eight” prior documented encounters between the alleged gunman and Owens, with the first one being on January 16, 2021.
“I wish the shooter would’ve called us instead of taking actions into her own hands,” he added.
