The State chairman of the Association of Bread Sellers in Zamfara State, Alhaji Yusuf Usman, has bemoaned the hike in the price of flour and other ingredients necessary for production of bread, noting it has compelled many confectionery houses to shut down in the State.
Usman who doubles as the north west zonal secretary diskosed thisin an interview with journalists in Gusau, the State capital, lamenting that the prices of confectioneries have gone beyond their reach.
Usman added that some bread and confectionery houses had shut down as a result of high prices of relevant baking materials.
“We have no alternative than to reduce our quantity of production or go out of production as the prices of the commodities have continued to escalate since 2016”, he added.
He then called for Federal Government’s intervention in order to keep them in business before the situation becomes completely unbearable.
