Afrobeat sensation Ayodeji “Wizkid” Balogun captivated the crowd at the Greater Lagos Countdown 2025 with a heartfelt message during his performance, marking a powerful homecoming moment for the superstar.
Held at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos, the event, organized by the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, attracted thousands of fans eager to ring in the New Year.
As the crowd roared with excitement, Wizkid took the stage and shared his joy in being back home. “First of all, Happy New Year to everyone here. I pray that you’ll be prosperous, live long, and cherish your families,” he said, before continuing with a heartfelt declaration.
“I have an important message for you all, Lagos. Your son, Ayodeji Balogun, aka Wizkid, Machala, I’m back home now,” he announced, causing the crowd to erupt in cheers.
The highly anticipated event also featured performances from other top Nigerian artists, including Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Olamide, Adekunle Gold, Phyno, Niniola, and Seyi Vibez.
