Super Falcons faces the possibility of meeting England in the 2023 Women’s World Cup round of 16 if the Lionesses win their group.
PUNCH METRO reported that Super Falcons and Ireland played to a goalless draw on Monday, while Australia defeated Canada 4-0, resulting in Coach Randy Waldrum’s team finishing second in Group B with a total of five points.
Nigeria would face the victors of Group D. England currently holds the top position in the group after two rounds of games.
However, it is imperative for them to secure a victory in their final match against China in order to solidify their position as the frontrunners.
Denmark is second in the leaderboard, with China third. However, both teams have three points.
While it appears likely that Africa’s most successful female team will face England in the next round of the tournament, China or Denmark could possibly become Nigeria’s opponents if outcomes go their way.
