Chelsea closed the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool to just two points on Sunday with a 2-1 win over Brentford, thanks to goals from Marc Cucurella and Nicolas Jackson.
Dominating from the start, Chelsea kept Brentford on the back foot but had to wait until the 43rd minute for the breakthrough.
Full-back Cucurella made an impactful run into the box and delivered a spectacular diving header from Noni Madueke’s cross, leaving goalkeeper Mark Flekken with no chance.
The decisive moment came 10 minutes before the end of regulation time when Jackson capitalized on a clever pass from Enzo Fernandez.
He expertly slotted the ball past Flekken at the near post, securing his ninth Premier League goal of the season.
Despite being under pressure for much of the game, Brentford remained a threat on the counter-attack.
Bryan Mbeumo gave Chelsea a tense final few minutes, pulling one back in the dying moments of normal time. The victory moves Chelsea four points ahead of third-placed Arsenal.
