Iconic American-born and naturalized Swiss singer Tina Turner passed on Tuesday at the age of 83 after a protracted illness.
The death of the ‘Queen of Rock’n Roll’ was announced by her managers in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Turner was said to have died in her home in Küsnacht, Switzerland, not far from Zurich.
The statement read, “With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.”
Tina Turner was born in Brownsville, Tennessee in 1939. She rose to prominence as a member of the Ike and Tina Turner combo in the 1970s before embarking on a tremendous solo career that ranks among the most successful of any female singer in history.
She was dubbed the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” and she was survived by three children.
