Serie A leaders Inter Milan let a two-goal cushion slip away as they were held to a 2-2 draw by struggling Parma on Saturday, in a match that saw coach Simone Inzaghi absent from the touchline due to a suspension following last weekend’s red card.
Inter got off to a confident start at the Stadio Ennio Tardini, with Matteo Darmian opening the scoring in the 15th minute.
His effort from the near post ricocheted off the woodwork before finding the net. Marcus Thuram added a second just before halftime, lifting the ball with an unorthodox chipped finish to put the visitors in control.
Parma, who had already tested Inter’s goalkeeper Yann Sommer in the first half, found their rhythm after the break.
Substitute Adrian Bernabe cut the deficit on the hour mark, and just nine minutes later, Jacob Ondrejka dazzled with a solo run before calmly slotting home the equaliser.
Despite the draw, Inter remain top of the table with 68 points from 31 matches, four ahead of Napoli, who sit in second place and are due to visit Bologna, currently fourth, on Monday. Parma, on the other hand, remain 16th, clinging four points clear of the relegation zone.
