Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has established a new state security supervisory committee to strengthen efforts against insecurity in the state.
The governor’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, confirmed this development in a press statement on Wednesday, describing it as a significant step toward ensuring the safety of residents.
According to Opara, the committee includes representatives from government agencies, traditional rulers, and local government officials. Their mandate involves overseeing and regulating the activities of Agunechemba security units, among other responsibilities.
“This collective approach to addressing insecurity is a welcome development, as it recognises that crime and social unrest require a multifaceted solution,” Opara stated.
He emphasized that Governor Soludo’s proactive measures have provided relief to residents, adding that the committee will foster stronger collaboration between government authorities and local communities.
“This initiative follows the governor’s unveiling of the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025 and the launch of ‘Operation Udo Ga-Achi,’ a special security operation designed to reinforce the state’s security structure,” he noted.
Opara further highlighted the impact of recent security measures, stating that “in the last few months after the launch of ‘Udo Ga-Achi,’ the efforts of the new security forces are yielding the desired results.”
With these initiatives in place, he expressed confidence that Anambra State is on the path to becoming one of the safest in Nigeria. “Governor Soludo is taking the right steps to address the security concerns of Anambra residents,” he affirmed.
