The Kano State Police Command has apprehended a notorious armed robber and seized two AK-47 rifles along with 47 rounds of live ammunition. Additionally, officers recovered a sum of N4,986,000.00.
According to a statement by the spokesperson of the command,SP Abdullahi Kiyawa the arrest followed a report from a resident of Yandadi Village in Kunchi Local Government Area, who was attacked and robbed of N15,000,000.00 by armed robbers in the early hours of August 5, 2024.
The statement added that despite the ongoing nationwide protests, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, directed a team of detectives to conduct intelligence-led patrols to apprehend the perpetrators and recover their weapons.
The statement reads in part, “By 6:00 am on the same day, the police team successfully arrested the main suspect, 35-year-old Hassan Iliya of Alhazawa Village, Musawa LGA, Katsina State, as he attempted to flee on a motorcycle.
“A search of Iliya revealed a sack containing two AK-47 rifles, 47 rounds of live ammunition, and cash amounting to N4,986,000.00.
“Investigations are ongoing. The Commissioner of Police has called on the public to remain patriotic, avoid actions that could incite violence, and stay vigilant.
